Tosca in the National Gallery of Scotland

Throughout May, Scottish Opera have been touring alongside their full-scale production of Tosca a "perfect introduction for anyone new to opera". A Little Bit of Tosca follows the fortunes of famed opera diva Floria Tosca as she battles to save her lover - and herself - from the dangerous schemes of Police Chief Scarpia.

2008: Macbeth - constructing one man's downfall

There have been many productions of Macbeth staged at the Festival down the years – from the first, an in-the-round performance at the Assembly Hall by the Old Vic Company in 1954 to an ambitious rendition on Inchcolm Island in the Firth of Forth in 1989 – but few have been on the scale of this year’s production 2008: Macbeth by TR Warszawa.

The bells! The bells!

Bells. Clanging, chiming, and pealing. When it comes to inspired themes for great concerts bells aren’t perhaps the most obvious choice for an evening of beautiful music. We at the Festival took it upon ourselves to rise to that challenge and created an evening of that will certainly take its toll (sorry!) but in a very good way.

The LSO and Classics in the Open Air

Outdoor concerts are always pretty special - the scale, the geography and, of course, that many people in one place can't help but make the atmosphere electric.
